Mistreated in your office?

Denied Appraisals, pushed into a different team...? 



Corporate world is cruel, there are more betrayals than justice, more foes than friends and more setbacks than success. Well, most of it is applicable in the real world as well then what makes it even more difficult in the world of Corporate?


The problem with the Corporate world is that everything is well orchestrated with properly planned events and outcomes. How suddenly an opening pops up overnight only to be filled by a specific person and how every other applicant is given a reason for rejection as lame as “since your house is not coloured pink hence you are rejected”. It's like Big Boss, a very well-scripted show sold under the “reality show” tag.


“Favourism” or “Groupism”  is a way of survival in this world. Like any kingdom or politics, the people in the key roles are near and dear ones of the ones sitting at the top of the vicious pyramid. Hence like any other community, they only accept the people in their circle who can “be a part of their herd” Like any sheep, you simply can’t afford to defy or offend them if you don’t want to get kicked out of the warmth or protection of the circle.


Now, you would think it is easy to survive if you simply can be a “yes Sir” person. The answer is “Yes” up to an extent as struggles within that circle are also real. But for now, let's focus on the ones you choose to “not be a Yes Sir” person and voice out their “not so welcomed” but “honest” opinions. What do you think would be the outcomes?


Since you choose to be a “Black sheep” you no longer are an asset to the circle and instead will be counted as a threat. Hence you will soon start to see the consequences, in your figures in the next appraisal cycle and when you will try to question them the answer is one of the below:


“You were already given an increment during the last promotion”

“You are touching the threshold of your band hence can’t provide any better”

“The performance in the last month has been deficient” (how only they considered 1 month over the other 11 months”

“The budget this year is very low” (how come others are with happy faces)”


And as if not financial stripping is not enough, out of the blue you will be shifted to a different team under an anonymous manager who is notorious for his behaviour toward his team member and the team is famous for its through-the-roof workload. 


So upon analysing, you’ll find yourself


“Being denied of rightful payment for last 11 months and then asked to work double hours for the coming months”


Double Attack!


And what did you owe this pleasure “simply being honest and not being part of the “Yes boss” clan!”
