Tips for Office Goers in Rain!
Here are a some viable options and alternatives for office during rain as we understand how difficult to manage your office when the situation is not likely.
Options for office in
Rain!
Strong thunder, soothing “heavy rain” sound and temperature drop
just enough to snug in a blanket without AC, this is what rains normally do in
a pleasant situation. But like everything has 2 sides positive and negative,
rain does too. The downside of rain includes long power cuts, water logging, delayed
transport, long waiting for conveyance and ultimately walking your way down.
Now only considering from office goer’s perspective this increases our level of
difficulty at whole new level. Keeping all possible scenarios in picture these
are the possible solutions when a normal day turned upside down with pouring
rain:
WFH aka Work from
Home
The best solution in such situation is WFH. Considering most
of the companies now support this facility for uninterrupted working, this is
the best solution. But, this one also has a catch and that is power cut!
Unfortunately, WFH also requires power to work and as far as I know rain and
power doesn’t go well. If you have backup generators then hurray! Enjoy your
noodles with sweet touch of rain and work. If you are like me and don’t have
power back up or laptops provided by your company then let’s explore other
options.
Call it a Day
Now when we can’t bring our work home, we are left with only
2 options either go to work, or just text your manager and call it a day. Text can
be saying anything like “Stuck in traffic can’t come”, “Can’t come on leave
today”. Whatever suits you the best just text and enjoy rest of your day off
with your family and tasty food. But if you have to still go to work then;
Pack
your bag and gear up for an adventure!
Considering that you guys neither can’t work from home nor can
take the day off, now you are stuck with this situation where you must go
office. So, let’s proceed with step by step guide of how to reach office in
such situations.
Get the facts right
As soon as you have got this self-check and got the verdict
(i.e going office) don’t panic and say “All Is Well” three times! Just kidding.
In such situations first analyze the situation that means get your facts right.
Meaning scan your radar and get updates about the transport system as in if you
are getting airlifted, water lifted, road lifted by your organization? So check
if your helicopters, boats, shuttles or cab whatever your company provides is up
and running or not. Secondly, get the updates about the route, which route is
blocked with water or by traffic and which is safe enough to be used by normal
human beings walking on feet not for any amphibian capable of swimming! If you
are getting lifted by your company transport then very good and if not then the
next safety net would be
Arranging a Home Pick
Up
Check if Uber/OLA or any transport services that offer home
pick up can arrange you anything. Now, few things you should be prepared for
are A) Non availability of cabs B) Sky High Prices and that too, if you are lucky
enough to get one. If you are unlucky like me and found no cab, don’t make this
sad face we are fighters so, let’s fight our way to work.
Getting out
Considering you are unable to get any work from home, transportation
from your company and no cab for home pick up; then my friend you can now set
your FB status to “Up for an Adventure!” and get prepared for one. Some Dos and
Don’ts are:
Dos: Keep Change
as you may have to pay for any ride in your way
Wear comfortable footwear; open if possible
Take your rain proof kit along that is Umbrella, good music
and some snacks in case you get stuck in traffic
Don’ts: Avoid
wearing light color
Tight lowers as you might have to fold your pants
Now, with your itinerary ready let’s start the expedition!
