Tips to survive Home Lock down

The recent turn of events has forced us to change this base of our living where we are being told to maintain “social distancing”. There is a nice old saying “You’ll only get to know the importance when you’ll lose it” seems like apt for this situation. “Social Distancing” just 2 words but actually have kept the whole nation or should I say whole world stand still! These are very crucial hours as it always “lingers upon the most when its not good for you”  meaning “ there will be strong desire to eat/do things when they are banned for you” so this is the testing time. Testing time for your patience,

Patience to stay at home
Patience to avoid stepping out
Patience to be hygienic and careful for others
Patience with eating habits
Patience with your travel

Patience to push your even necessary work for sometime

I know it’s quite difficult but think it of like fasting, “social fasting”. “Navratri” has just gone and most of us did fasting for the Goddess of Power, where we put some self-control in our lifestyle, eating habits which help us with cleansing our mind body and soul. “Social Fasting” is also similar in a way that here also you are exercising self-control just with different things!
The diet conscious people can relate it with “Social Diet” the point is simple “Self Control” and “Patience”.

I know its easier said than done as it’s a new kind of Fast or diet in market so no experience there and after a point anyone can go insane staring the same walls and windows.

So here are some suggestions to help:

Maintain a schedule: After a few days of sleep, rest, spending quality time with friends you’ll definitely feel irritated with the schedule as nobody is calling you at home to report on time. So, in order to beat that feel maintain a schedule and keep yourself busy. Make sure to add some entertainment time for yourself as otherwise you’ll end up losing your mind.

Replace your outdoor activities with indoor ones: Replace your outdoor setup like gym, park, with indoor space.  Make use of terrace, private garden if available for the walks. For kids as well try entertaining those with some indoor games for some time painting or PS4 whatever suits.

Be motivated: You can only fight darkness with a source of light; so in this situation where we are surrounded with darkness, we should look for light not darkness! So look for source of motivation, any motivational video, any book, anyone you follow just look for positivity which right now feels like finding a needle in a haystack.

Use technology to its best: This is the high time to use the social apps to connect or should I say virtually connect with each other. Use the entertainment apps and watch all of the shows that you have loved as a kid and re live your childhood.

Try to be calm: Chances are situation can worsen so reading numbers in the tabloid can make anyone nervous or scared hence try to be calm. You can only do what’s in your control so, just do your part and pray to God for the rest!

God save us all!
