Will Work from Home be new working style in coming future

With current COVID crisis the point of view has changed not only in terms of lifestyle but work style as well. When lockdown got announced organizations that could arrange working from home quickly came into action resulting in uninterrupted work experience. Now, when we are in middle of the crisis there is a question that’s coming in everyone’s mind “Can this be a new normal? “ A lot of people are asking their management that if Work from home can be a work option in coming future?

I have mentioned in my previous article as well “Work from Home” which earlier use to be offered as a perk by selected (usually multinational) companies. After this crisis there has been a shift in the mind set and point of view of the employers. Now, “Work from Home” is getting considered as a mandatory option and not as a perk but a mandatory practice.

Earlier Work from Home use to be treated as a careless work style where managers had an extra thing to worry about if their employees are not fooling them and are actually working! But this crisis has changed that mindset as well or should I say has forced to change. Now every resource has been tried and tested, every meeting or webinars are getting arranged virtually. Trainings are getting held virtually, even virtual tea breaks are getting arranged. That has led management think about the work from home as permanent work from home option.

Similar questions have been going rounds in the upper management as well and as a result a few market giants have publically announced Work from Home as a permanent working style in near future. Corporate giant like TCS has announced that by 2025 75% of their global workforce will permanently work from fome. Axis bank has also announced something similar.

Whats going to happen in the near future…, we can only have a hunch of right now. One thing for sure is, that this crisis will change the way of our thinking and will design a new normal for us!
