Plot
Descendants of the Sun’s storyline is focused on the love life of a soldier and a doctor. Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) along with his friend and comrade Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo) is a secret agent in the South Korean Army and is responsible for stealth operations that involve high secrecy, not to mention the level of danger they deal with in everyday life. Dr Kang Mo-yeon (Song Hye-Kyo) is an ER surgeon who has a usual hectic life of a surgeon. Yoon Myung-Ju (Kim Ji-won)is an Army officer and doctor who is in love with Yoo Si-jin but owing to some issues is not on good terms with him. She also shares a previous connection with Kang Mo-Yeon that resulted in a dispute between them.
The first part of the story is like any romantic movie mixed with a little bit of action where Man 1 comes to ER for some reason and met Kang Mo-Yeon and instantly feels attracted to her. She also accepted her feelings and they started dating each other. But due to the nature of Man 1’s job he always gets called out for some mission at the last moment and they fail to spend some quality team with each other like any normal couple. The worst part is Kang Mo-Yeon doesn’t even know where her boyfriend is going and what exactly is his job profile as Yoo Si-jin can’t disclose any of his job details to her.
The second part of the story shifts the gear from Romance to Action where Kang Mo-yeon along and her team of doctors visit a village to set up a camp. To her surprise, the military people responsible for their security were none other than her boyfriend. There the show garners points as the story has a fine blend of romance and action.
The final part of the story moves toward melodrama where the men of the show on a secret mission go missing and are then later declared dead. Kang Mo-Yeon and Yoo Si-jin were in the grief of losing the love of their lives but the show doesn’t disappoint to give you a happy ending.
